Romy Wakil is a trauma-informed psychotherapist whose work is informed by attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Practising through an anti-oppressive and culturally responsive lens, she supports adults experiencing trauma (inc. intergenerational trauma), anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, eating disorders, and identity-related concerns. Her approach honours the complexity of each person's experiences, recognising the influence of early relationships, the body, and broader social and cultural contexts, while fostering a compassionate space for healing, self-understanding, and lasting change.

At the heart of my practice is a commitment to working in ways that honour both our inner worlds and the wider systems we live within. My approach is trauma informed, anti oppressive, and grounded in a decolonising lens that recognises how colonialism, racism, displacement, intergenerational trauma, and systemic injustice can shape our emotional lives, relationships, and the ways these experiences are held in the body. Drawing on relational psychotherapy, psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic awareness, I support clients in making sense of experiences such as grief, moral injury, identity, and chronic survival responses with curiosity and compassion. I believe mental health systems often pathologise emotions, particularly anger, when in fact sacred rage offers profound wisdom, and is a protective response to injustice, violation, and loss. I also hold grief as an essential part of the therapeutic process, whether connected to people, place, identity, safety, or futures that were never realised. Above all, I aim to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship all parts of you are welcome and where healing can emerge through connection, self understanding, and reclaiming your own inner wisdom.
